Noon @ the ‘Spoon Public Tour: “Louise Fishman” photo

Our 20-minute Noon @ the 'Spoon tour is a fun way to explore a new exhibition during your lunch break. Offered the second Tuesday of the month. Free and open to the public.

This month we will be touring the exhibition Louise Fishman: A Retrospective; on view Sept 30 - Dec 22, 2017.

The Weatherspoon Art Museum is the only southern venue for the traveling exhibition, Louise Fishman: A Retrospective. This first museum survey of the artist's prolific career features work from 1967 to the present. Fishman employs the formal language of Abstract Expressionism to create large-scale gestural paintings that share the physicality, dynamism, and emotional power of that movement, without its bravado. Fishman's work is highly informed by her deep commitment to feminism, and aspects of her Jewish background.
